Maryland Injury Lawyer.jpgMy mom called me the other morning asking about a living will and some other medical forms. Before I knew it, I was in the middle of a small tirade about the medical system and all the red tape. My mom interrupted and said, "alright Counselor, we get the point." I could not help but laugh. I quickly answered the original question, but the conversation lingered in my head throughout the day.

The thing that stood out most about this conversation was that a simple question about how to address the medical staff and fill in forms turned into a lecture on malpractice and the obligations that a staff has to its patients. It was at that moment that I understood that this is what I was meant to do with my life. I didn't get into personal injury law to make a lot of money (though I will not object to being paid). I got into this line of work to help people who are confused and unable to represent themselves.

Someone asked me why they should hire an attorney if they wanted an informal settlement of a claim. The simplest answer is you hire an attorney to make sure that the insurance company and their attorney's do not take advantage of you. I always explain that you hire an attorney like me because you want someone who is as passionate about your case as they would be about their own. I know that there are tons of attorneys all over the area that could "help" in the informal process, but you hire an attorney like me because I am ready, willing and able to take on the formal process and fight for your rights.
